But I wonder sometimes if I streamed myself at work, looking up Mopar parts all day... would people watch? This story got me thinking:

I’d watch you, it’s gotta be better than my stream which would be typing, reading jalopnik and crying.

reminds me of when gopros were new and everyone was eager to drop their sick edits to GoPro for promotion. Back then they were kinda nobodies and were stoked to get whatever footage they could, in fact the company I worked for got a bunch of free gopros from the company because of our video related work. I put together a nice little edit of all the people that submitted their footage to me, it wasn’t great but it was long ago. Anyway a coworker of mine decided he didn’t want to go pro, he wanted to go average. So he filmed mowing his lawn, sitting on the coach, playing softball, etc. They were great.

I don’t know if I shared this before but a buddy used to work a Nissan parts counter. There used to be these relay call services for the deaf on the internet that you would type in the number and they would do the talking for you and you’d type it out then they would type their response for you and so on.

https://www.sprintrelay.com/services/sprint-ip-relay

I called his work one day asking for part numbers and prices. 87 Nissan stanza headlamp was $189. Then I told him I only needed one and it should be half of that, and I asked how much. He was so pissed, I could tell by what he was saying and the relay operator was getting and ear full. I was laughing so hard.

Credit card scammers used to use relay services to ask to buy parts, and would ask for insane quantities.

I used to love telling the operator to tell them “We are aware you are trying to scam us. Call us again using a system designed for the disabled and I will do everything in my power to report you to the authorities”.

The operators LOVED that. They didn’t like people abusing the system either.
